North Island
North Island New Zealand is where most of you will begin your adventure in this beautiful country. From Cape Reinga in the very far north to Wellington at its tip a holiday in the North Island New Zealand has so much to offer.
The vast Lake Taupo, stunning Coromandel Peninsula, hidden beaches and bays in The Bay of Islands, steaming thermal pools of Rotorua, the wine region of Hawkes Bay and of course the modern and chilled out city of Auckland. To see this part of New Zealand in all its glory, hire a car and tootle about at your own pace or take one of very informative and expertly run group tours. Either way, you will love every minute.
Auckland
This is a fabulous city and for most will be your entry point. A good start and the ideal place to acclimatise to the new time zone. Plenty to see and do and you could easily spend a week here, although that would be unlikely.
Bay of Islands & Northland
Not to be missed, this is an outstanding spot in New Zealand in the far North with gin clear waters, bundles of activities and great places to stay. Please make sure you add it your list.
Coromandel Peninsula
A beautiful area of New Zealand to the south and like a cloak over Auckland. The East Pacific drive is one of the most scenic in the world. A great artist hang out with a cosy friendly feel and fab beaches, great Lodges and Maori history everywhere.
Napier & Hawkes Bay
A very popular area to visit offering that wonderful mix of great beaches, some stunning scenery, fabulous Luxury Lodges and wine, wine, wine!
Rotorua
With its unique volcanic landscape, living Maori culture, natural hot springs and plenty of options for adventure, Rotorua is one of New Zealand's most famous destinations. You can witness the spirit of Maori culture, with authentic village and performance experiences.
Taupo
In the middle(ish) of the North Island and named after the great lake here, Taupo is a great spot. Good accommodation, plenty of activities and if you like fishing, this is the ideal location.
Wellington
New Zealand's capital city, Wellington, is on the doorstep of so much outdooriness, activity, mountains and coastal resorts. It is a great spot as well as the conduit between North and South Island. A great base from which to explore, why doesn't every country have its capital in the middle?
